Hello
Hi! everyone!! ARE you still enjoying the milder Autumn season that we are having?, October is most likely to be warmer than average according to “forecasts”!..with this in mind!...our day trips will still include a couple of outdoor activities planned for October 2018, such as the Jurassic Creswell Crags ! -onboard MiniBus hot drinks & blankets at the ready-just in case though of a cooler breeze!.. All to be enjoyed by our lovely RSD group members!
Soo...What did we do last month? … We was very busy organising our Rotherham Show 2018 at Clifton Park, which was a great success, helping spread the word of our good work we do…chatting to the Mayor & Mayoress of Rotherham again too was fantastic!.. ….Y0u can’t beat a bit of Social Group CHAT in the FRESH AIR!!, We called at Potteric Carr Nature Reserve for a chilled out stroll around their Reserve, which is home to a large range of wetland birds, dotted with hides, plus a tea-room and gift shop. And after?...We called at the Woodbridge Farm pub! for a well deserved Carvery and playing for prizes with a few games of Cards, Beatle Drive and Dominoes!!!
We also!...visited Rotherham’s Transport Museum, where we were very warmly welcomed by volunteer guides Peter and Roy! A big Thank You to these guys, for making all the yesteryear stories come back to life! Very interesting and highly recommended!!.
We got all Arty!... and visited Elsecar
Heritage Center’s Encaustic Art Plus !!!, We were very warmly welcomed by Brian & Julie, and was introduced to the world of Encaustic Art!...existing for over 2000 years and embraced by Romans & Egyptians alike, which involves using heated beeswax to which colored pigments are added. The liquid or paste is then applied to a surface—usually on canvas, but other materials are often used too!. The groups had a great time, and took home their glossy cards with pride!
On other Days, we picked our groups up on our MiniBus and headed for local pubs such as the Sitwell Arms, The Storyteller, The Woodman and Dinningtons Monksbridge Farm. The meals there are home cooked, and a few games thrown in with good laughs & chatter!.. makes dull afternoons fun filled ! and enjoyed by all.!! …...We also had a fantastic TALKING ART CLASS at Graves Gallery Sheffield, where our Host - Susan, talked us through five pieces of art including one from Picasso. The groups were encouraged to comment on their thoughts of the arts, which evoked thoughts & memories, which was very interesting Also to -Edlington...for a fantastic Vintage Tea Afternoon Experience where we are always so warmly welcomed by the wonderful Sue & her team!..We chatted away!.....& had afternoon tea, beautifully presented on Bone China, ….and finished off with quizzes and Music Bingo, which got all our feet tapping!!.
