April/May 2018 Newsletter

Hello everyone!! We’re Hoping that you’ve all have made some nice plans for the coming summer months, it’s always nice to have something to look forward to isn’t it? - however short it is...

We, here at Rotherham Social Days champion social inclusion, and understand the values of still being able to get out, and to still enjoy things in life - even with disabilities and health concerns - So, we have some more lovely supported weekly day trips and weekly Summer outdoor activities planned for May 2018 & the coming months! - all ready to be enjoyed by our lovely club members...

Sooo….What did we do last month?

We tried out some local eateries such as The Old Market Hall in Mexborough and the Ring o Bells & The Droppingwell in Kimberworth to visit for a chat & meal and to see how long we could last at building our Jenga!! …......

We called at the Chislette community centre in Kimberworth for games of pool, knit & chat, and a Joinery chat in the Mans Shed ! where we are always so very welcomed with their lovely staff..

We also!...visited Conisbrough Castle & Museum, where they provided 3 D Interactive Electronic Notebooks to show our disabled guests how the castle looks inside on all tower floors - which we thought was : Absolutely Fabulous !

The weather a few days in April rose up to 27° hot! - and the poor Daffodils & Bluebells in the heady heat looked flustered. We visited Thrybergh Country park a couple of days -, for ice lollies !! and to feed the swans by the lakeside..….

And More! ……………...Edlington...for Vintage Tea Afternoon Experiences where we are so very warmly welcomed as always, making Picture Frame crafts & fun music bingo, listening to music from the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s !!

We visited also the huge Markham Grange Garden centre and cafe at Brodsworth, for a shop around and a bite to eat & drink ….. (They have loads of choice there for your garden & home including New and Antique to browse through & buy ) - Also; Doncasters premier beauty spot -historic 1740’s built Cusworth Hall Was on our list. With a stroll at the front of the house, to see the beautiful views of the lakelands and gardens.… A friendly and informative guide that greeted us at the door, welcomed us in and gave a tourist guided speech of the history of the house…. we walked through the many rooms and displays inside and onto the authentic Butlers Tea-shop for a very well presented meal and hot cuppa. Ahhh!...

And…...what are we doing in this month ahead?

We’re going to head to Doncasters Museum & Art , which was opened in 1964 to display important collections of natural history, archaeology, local history, fine and decorative art. There is also a large and varied temporary exhibition programme throughout the year, as well as special activities for all ages…..” A local stroll through Rotherhams tranquil Winthrop Gardens, the Curiosity shop, and to their cafe for their Afternoon Teas is a must!..on one sunny day of May,-

- also to

Edlington...for a Vintage Tea Afternoon Experience where you can chat and create your own lovely craft work…. Also; Old Moor Nature Reserve: “The beautiful nature reserve has something for everyone, plus they have a fabulous visitor centre and scenic balcony cafe !! ” And, we will of course be visiting some local eateries such as; The Church House in the lovely Wath upon Dearne, The 3 Magpies Hotel at Brinsworth or the Winter Green at Waverley ….for lots of Social Chatter , Retro Game fun & plenty of Nosh!..“Our supported Visits & Activities are so varied! - there’s always something for everyone 💜”
